So. The first day of school. It seems to me that most nights in my life before the first day of school are not unlike the night before Christmas. I could never sleep and would not stop thinking about the next day, which usually made me irritable and groggy in the morning. Well, it just so happens that magic happened and I fell asleep quickly and awoke bright and early ready to start my day.

When I got to school I found out that one of my classes had been turned into a study hall. So that meant I literally had one class all day, which was in the morning. And in that class I only had four students. I’m sure you are wondering what I have been doing with the rest of my time.

Well, besides lunch, which was a meatball (baseball size), rice, kim-chi, some potatoes and green beans and a slice of watermelon, I have been busy typing away at my keyboard creating lesson plans for the upcoming week. I’ve been reading over some of the textbooks and trying my best to have creative lesson plans for my students. I’m really not worried about the class with four kids, they are in twelfth grade and speak English pretty well compared to the rest of the kids.

Where my problems might lie are with the eighth grade classes I will have tomorrow. Not that it has anything to do with them, but it is more students and they will all be at different levels of English comprehension, speaking, and reading. The challenge with that is where I draw the line with differentiation: how do I not bore the more advanced students without leaving the ones who struggle in the dust?

Oh, and another thing. I am going to enable the comments, but they will have to be approved before they go up! That way I can see your encouragement (even though I did see how many views I had yesterday, which was encouraging too)
